Development of METIDA in Belarus: the Team Has Been Joined by Valiantsin Rachkouski and Pavel Klementsov

We would like to notify that the Professional Law Partnership METIDA Law Firm Zaboliene and Partners has strengthened its international team. In Belarus, our team has been joined by two new patent attorneys of Belarus: Valiantsin Rachkouski and Pavel Klementsov. The new members of the team have considerable experience in the area of intellectual property gained through representation of clients from Belarus and other countries. Today the Professional Law Partnership unites 13 partners and associated partners in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Belarus.

Valiantsin Rachkouski has actively been working in the area of intellectual property for already 15 years. He started his career in the Belarussian Patent Office. Mr Račkouski represented the Belarusian clients in the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the European Patent Organisations, was a presiding member of the Board of Appeal in the National Intellectual Property Centre and represented the interests of the centre in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus. He also was the manager of the company providing patent services of the Belarusian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. In 2012, Mr Rachkouski was qualified as a patent attorney of Belarus; later on, he became the manager of the intellectual property agency BelBrand Consult which in 2016 joined the team of METIDA.  Rachkouski_500 - Copy
 Pavel Klementsov has already been engaged in the law of intellectual property for nine years. During the period from 2007 to 2010 he worked at the Department of Law and International Treaties and the Department of Registers of the National Centre of Intellectual Property. Later on, he carried out a work placement in one of the leading law firms in Paris and worked as a lawyer in the company providing patent services of the Belarusian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Mr Klementsov has a broad range of expertise in the field of protection of intellectual property rights. Ruta Olmane New President of ECTA

We are delighted to inform you that during ECTA Annual Meeting on 23 June 2016, Ruta Olmane METIDA Associated partner was elected President of ECTA for 2016/2018.

During her speech newly elected President of ECTA pointed out that the key to successful leadership is critical thinking alongside with cooperation, creativity and communication. She thanks F. Peter Mueller, previous ECTA President, for his extensive work over the previous two years dedicated to ECTA. Ruta Olmane underlined that ECTA members have to be united at the time when many changes are hitting Europe: “I am proud to overtake these duties at this moment because ECTA became even stronger than it was before and now is well recognized in EU level. Alongside with other goals now it is important to make ECTA recognized as trustful partner at the national level as well. I am not alone in this ECTA work – behind me is an excellent team – Council Members, Committees members, Management Committee team and Brussels office. My moto is “One for All, and All for one”. If I may compare ECTA with a ship, then I have a reliable team on board which is fully capable safety sail though the Rogue Waves and Crosswinds of Europe in motion.

ECTA, the European Communities Trade Mark Association, was formed in 1980. ECTA numbers approximately 1,500 members, coming from all the Member States of the European Union and with associate members from all over the world. It brings together all those persons practicing professionally in the Member States of the European Community in the field of Trade Marks, designs and related IP matters. These professionals are lawyers, Trade Mark advisors, Trade Mark attorneys, in-house counsels and others who can be considered specialist practitioners in these areas.

METIDA Has Contributed to the Renovation of the Vilnius University Legal Clinic

Today the Vilnius University Legal Clinic (VU LC) was officially opened in Vilnius. The students in their final year at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University will provide free legal assistance to socially vulnerable persons, emerging companies and non-governmental organisations and the quality of advice will be ensured by researchers, professional attorneys-at-law and lawyers. The Vilnius University Legal Clinic (VU LC) was established in 1998; legal assistance was provided to more than 40 thousand people and our contribution to the development of the civil society and the rule of law has been appreciated by the President of the State Dalia Grybauskaite. We are very glad that METIDA also supported the renovation of the premises and equipment of the Legal Clinic.

METIDA debut being signalized by the huge success of the visitors at INTA 2016 138th Annual Meeting in Orlando

On May 21-25 METIDA team of 7 people attended International Trademark association annual meeting held in Orlando, Florida state. For the first time in firms history METIDA entered the conference with its exhibition booth, which stood out from others and attracted a lot of visitors’ attention. CREATE. PROTECT. SHARE – was the official slogan of METIDA , which purpose was to represent not only the importance of IP protection but also the significance of creativity process. That is why all visitors were involved in painting on canvas activity. It was a big surprise how brave people were and used the paintbrush, paints with no hesitation to create art! The result – 8 marvellous masterpieces which we brought home to Lithuania.

METIDA Has Organised the Conference ‘Baltic Region as a Bridge of Business between China and Europe’

The Professional Law Partnership METIDA Law Firm Zaboliene and Partners organised a conference during which discussions on Lithuania and the whole Baltic Region as a bridge of business between China and Europe, the intellectual property protection system in China, the current situation and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation between Lithuania and China took place. The reports were delivered by guests from China, the law firm Jilly I.P. Law Office, Mr Taseen Lee, the director of the Department of International Affairs, and Ms Lilian Ho, the manager of a division of Department of International Affairs. The reports were delivered and experience was exchanged by the President of the Lithuania-China forum Mindaugas Reinikis, the Manager for Export and Investment of INFOBAL Paulius Valiulis, the founder of the virtual exhibition platform Exponeer Vaidas Saltenis.
